New Version of Iridium Mail & Web App Available Now

Iridium released an updated version of the Iridium Mail & Web app in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. It is recommended that users update their apps in order to take advantage of the performance upgrades and enhancements that come with the new version.

What's New In Iridium Mail & Web?

Enhanced web browsing support added for iOS app
Updated XWeb app for web browsing support on Android 5.0+ (Lollipop) platform
Improvements to Iridium mobile home page for faster loading
Improved email composition window
Support added for additional third-party devices - RedPort Optimizer, Sattrans Wi-Fi docks (for Iridium 9555 and Iridium Extreme)

In order to best take advantage of all the enhancements, users should both update their Iridium Mail & Web app and update the firmware on their Iridium GO!. (Here are step-by-step instructions on how to update your Iridium GO!).

Why Web Browsing Is Now Better with Iridium GO!

With the new firmware and Iridium Mail & Web app updates, users will be able to utilize improved browsing environments on Android and iOS.

iOS: For users who have not upgraded their Iridium GO! firmware to the latest version, web browsing on third-party Opera Mini Browser on iOS is still supported. The application auto-detects the GO! firmware version and accordingly provides instructions for browsing configuration.

Android: Users on Android 5.0+ platform are required to download the latest XWeb app from Google Android store to enable browsing support. The improved email composition window removes restricted editing and supports extended text compilation. It also permits editing of text when an attachment is included in the email. The updates are valid for new email window, sending photos, and editing emails in inbox.

In addition to being supported on Iridium AxcessPoint, Iridium GO!, RedPort Aurora, and SatStation Wi-Fi docks, Iridium Mail & Web apps can now be operated with RedPort Optimizer and Sattrans Wi-Fi docks (for Iridium 9555 and Iridium Extreme).
